Katherine Gormley Architect is a residential architecture and interior design firm established in 1985. We specialize in the design of new houses, renovations and additions, and a full range of interior design services. We welcome large and small projects and can accommodate all budgets. Working collaboratively with our clients, we strive to capture the unique style and spirit of each commission. We are fully engaged in all stages of a project—design concept, preparation of construction documents, budget, scheduling and construction administration.
Among our architectural commissions are new houses in Southampton, Easthampton, Amagansett and Sag Harbor. We have also renovated apartments throughout Manhattan and houses in Bronxville, Rye and Pelham. These projects all include custom kitchens and baths. In addition, we designed the Georgica Association Bath House in East Hampton, as well as a production studio in Greenwich Village and art galleries in Midtown and Chelsea.
Major interior design projects have included many New York City apartments and houses in Westchester and the Hamptons. Our firm decorated several model apartments for the Clarett Group's Manhattan condominium developments. In addition, we custom design furniture, lighting and fabrics.
Katherine Gormley received her M. Arch from the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University. She has been practicing architecture since 1977. Before establishing her own practice, she worked for the firm of Philip Johnson.
Emily Abrahams, principal interior decorator, has designed interiors since 1984. Before joining Katherine Gormley Architect in 1995, she worked at Jane Baum Interiors, a firm specializing in high-end residential projects in New York, Palm Beach and California. Emily earned a doctorate in literature before entering the interior design field.
